WSET Level 3 Award in Wine

The Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits builds on knowledge learned at Level 2. 

All students must have successfully completed Level 2 before enrolling in Level 3.


This qualification is intended to provide core knowledge of the wide range of wines and spirits from around the world, with in-depth study over five intensive days. Study packs are delivered once enrolments are closed so students can familiarise themselves with the materials. This course requires at least 56 hours of self study once the course has started. 

The 2.5 hour final exam comprises 60 multiple choice questions, 4 short answer questions and a blind tasting of two wines.

- The Vineyard
- The Winery 

Day Two
- White Wines of Northern Europe
- White Wines of the Loire, Burgundy, Bordeaux
- Red and Rose Wines of the Loire, Bordeaux, SW France
- Red and Rose Wines of the Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Rhone


Day Three
- Red and White Wines of Southern Rhone, South of France, Northern Spain (I)
- Red and White Wines of Northern Spain (II) and Northern Italy
- Red and White Wines of Southern Italy, Greece, Portugal

Day Four
- Premium Red Wines of the New World
- Premium White Wines of the New World
- Regional Specialities of the New World

Day Five
- Sparkling Wines
- Fortified Wines

NOTE: Students must attend all five days to be eligible to sit the exam.
